The Samsung Unpacked event has wrapped up, with many new announcements. Here’s everything you need to know.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has the most prominent change over its predecessor. The outer screen is much larger, at 3.4 inches, now filling up nearly the entire area. It also features the same chipset used in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This should provide a decent performance boost and better efficiency. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 also has a redesigned hinge, which allows the phone to shut almost entirely flat, with a minimal gap. Most other components have stayed the same, such as the cameras, which are still not quite as good as traditional flagships.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 received minor changes. The hinge also now closes flat, like the Z Flip 5. The Fold 5 also features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, providing a boost in performance. The screen is now much brighter, at 1750 nits. Other than that, there are no major changes.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and Galaxy Watch 6 were also announced. Both models feature thinner bezels, making them look more modern. The screens are larger, and the watches feature upgraded chipsets. Most importantly, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic brings back the physical rotating bezel, which makes navigating through apps and widgets more satisfying and precise than a touch bezel.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 lineup, including the Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9 Plus, and regular Tab S9 also received a refresh. All tablets now feature the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, so battery life and performance should be improved. They also get IP68 dust and water resistance for both the Tab and the included S Pen. Finally, the most significant change for the tablets is that they now all have the same Dynamic AMOLED displays, which is a welcome change because the regular Tab S8 had an LCD screen.
